Sexual Health and STI Testing

Sexual Health and STI Testing

It is important to know the resources available on campus about safe sex. Student Health Services and Health Promotion both provide free male and female condoms, as well as dental dams. You can obtain these items during normal operating hours.

STI Testing is another aspect of safe sex, if one chooses to engage in sex. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offer a wide variety of information about prevention and symptoms. Click (or copy and past) the link to find out more:

Madison County Health Department also has additional information about testing. To connect to MCHD, click on the link to the left of the page, under SEE ALSO titled MADISON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Student Health Services offers free testing for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. It is essential to follow the directions of the medical staff to obtain results in a prompt manner. Results are provided in two (2) business days after intial screening.

For other STIs, some require bloodwork or a pelvic exam within the Women's Health Clinic. Please call Student Health Services and ask for a nurse to clarify which screening one should take. Any exam requiring bloodwork or a Pap Smear, has a fee that must be paid at the time of service. Please call 859-622-1761 to plan ahead or obtain more information.
